Recognizing the importance of mental health support, DV Institute for Higher Learning is committed to fostering a learning environment that prioritizes the well-being of its students.

Therapists play a crucial role in guiding individuals through their mental health journey. Meditation is widely recognized for its ability to enhance focus, reduce stress, and promote emotional balance. However, for many individuals, underlying psychological barriers such as anxiety, trauma, and unresolved emotions can hinder their meditation practice. Therapists provide valuable support in addressing these challenges, helping individuals cultivate mindfulness and inner peace effectively. By integrating therapy with meditation, individuals can achieve deeper self-awareness and long-term mental resilience.

The initiative

In collaboration with a team of distinguished mental health professionals, DV Institute for Higher Learning is offering access to specialized psychiatric and psychological services. This initiative aims to provide students with the necessary support to navigate their academic and personal journeys more effectively. By integrating mental health resources within the academic framework, the Institute ensures that students have access to professional guidance, therapeutic interventions, and crisis management when needed.

The following section introduces the three expert therapists collaborating with DV Institute for Higher Learning, each bringing unique expertise to address a wide range of mental health concerns.

The therapists

Dr Riyadh Al-Baldawi

Specialist in Psychiatry · Licensed Psychotherapist · Stockholm, Sweden

Dr Riyadh Al-Baldawi offers psychiatric consultation and assessments to students studying at the Institute. Dr Al-Baldawi is a well-known and established Associate Professor & Specialist in Psychiatry, and a Licensed Psychotherapist.

Clinical work

Assessment and treatment of general psychiatric disorders.
Processing and management of various crisis situations for individuals and families.
Problem-solving-oriented psychological (counselling) therapy for individuals and families.
Addressing family relationship issues, including couple conflicts and parent-child relationship conflicts.
Cognitive-behavioral therapy for adults and adolescents.
Neuropsychiatric assessment and treatment for adults and adolescents.

Koggelavani Muniandy

Licensed Counsellor · Trauma therapy

Koggelavani Muniandy is a Licensed Counsellor specializing in trauma therapy. She holds a Master’s in Education, majoring in Guidance & Counselling, from the International Islamic University Malaysia. Trained in EMDR and CBT-based therapies, she works with both adults and children to support their healing and growth.

She practices at a psychological rehabilitation center, providing therapy for individuals with bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, ADHD, anxiety disorders, and other psychological conditions. A firm believer in holistic well-being, Kogge integrates psychological, biological, and spiritual approaches to create long-term, sustainable impact for her clients.

Beyond her clinical work, Kogge is an experienced speaker and trainer in the mental health and well-being space, with over 15 years of experience. She is also the co-founder of GoodKids Malaysia, a social enterprise dedicated to providing mental health awareness programs for underprivileged youth and children.

Wei Wei

Psychotherapist

Wei Wei is a U.S.-trained psychotherapist with over a decade of study and clinical experience across diverse international settings. She holds a Master’s degree in Applied Developmental and Educational Psychology from Boston College and a Master’s in Cognitive Psychology from Columbia University.

With a client-centered approach, Wei Wei fosters a professional therapeutic relationship as a safe and supportive space for authentic connection, exploration, and self-discovery.

She specializes in treating depression, anxiety, panic attacks, trauma, stress, emotional regulation, and cultural or racial identity issues. Incorporating evidence-based, trauma-informed modalities, her practice includes Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Feminist Therapy, Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, Narrative Therapy, and Art Therapy.

Wei Wei believes that psychotherapy nurtures personal growth and empowers individuals to reclaim their ability to care for and nurture themselves.
